Application forms are available for conducting JNVST 2022 by Navodaya Vidyalaya Samiti to take admission in class VI in 661 Jawahar Navodaya Schools in India.
Admission to Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya is done through Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya Selection Test (JNVST) in class VI.
The medium of instruction in JNVs is mother tongue or regional language up to class VIII followed by English for Mathematics and Science and Hindi for Social Science.
Interested students may apply online through the website https://www.nvshq.gov.in to participate in JNVST 2022-23.

Navodaya Class 6 Eligibility Criteria: 

  • Candidate seeking admission must be born not earlier than 01-05-2009 and not later than 30-04-2013 (both dates inclusive).
  • It will be applicable to all categories of candidates belonging to Scheduled Castes (SC), Scheduled Tribes (ST) and Other Backward Classes (OBC).
  • In case of suspected cases older than the age mentioned in the certificate, they may be referred to the Medical Board for confirmation of age.
  • The decision of the Medical Board will be considered final.
  • A candidate appearing for the selection test must have studied in Class-V in Government/Government aided or other recognized schools for the entire academic session 2021-22 or in the same 'B' certificate qualifying course of the National Institute of Open Schooling I should read. District where he is seeking admission.
  • The candidate who has already passed / studied in class V in all the previous academic sessions is not eligible to appear in the selection test.
  • A school shall be deemed to be recognized if it is declared by the Government or by any other agency authorized by the Government.
  • Schools where students have obtained 'B' certificate under National Institute of Open Schooling must have NIOS accreditation.
  • A candidate must have successfully completed Class-V in the session 2021-22. The actual admission in Class-VI for the session 2022-23 will be subject to the condition mentioned above.
  • Candidate claiming admission under rural quota must have studied and passed class III, IV and V from Govt. / Government. Aided / Accredited Schools spend one full academic session each year in a school located in a rural area.
  • Candidates who have passed the 'B' Certificate qualifying course of the National Institute of Open Schooling on or before 30 September 2021 are also eligible to write the entrance test, provided they are in the prescribed age group.
  • The rural status of a child of the National Institute of Open Schooling will be decided on the basis of a certificate issued by the Tehsildar/District Magistrate of the district that the child has been residing in rural areas for the last three years.
  • Students studying under the said scheme and residing in urban and notified areas are not eligible to get seats in rural quota.
  • A candidate who has not been promoted and admitted to Class-V before 15th September, 2020 is not eligible to apply.
  • No candidate is eligible to appear in the selection test for the second time under any circumstances.

Navodaya Class 6 Admission Required Documents: -

  • The parents of the children who qualify the selection test are required to submit the following documents at the time of admission for verification:
  • Residence certificate in prescribed performance.
  • Proof of date of birth. However, if any doubts arise, a medical board will confirm the same.
  • Proof of eligibility as per the conditions of NVS.
  • For candidates seeking admission under rural quota, parents will also have to submit a certificate to the effect that the child has studied in an institution located in a notified rural area.

Any other document is required.

For Rural Candidates: -

  • At least 75% of the seats in the district will be filled by the selected candidates from the rural area, the remaining seats will be filled from the urban areas of the district.
  • Candidate seeking admission under rural quota must have studied in Class-III, IV and V for completing the full academic session from Government/Government Aided/Govt. Recognized School(s) located in rural areas.
  • However, the candidate must have studied the full academic session in Class-V from the same district where admission is sought.
  • The candidates studying under the scheme of National Institute of Open Schooling will have to submit the rural status certificate issued by the District Magistrate / Tehsildar / Block Development Officer.

For Urban Candidates: -

  • A candidate who has studied for even one day of the session in Class-III, IV and V in a school located in an urban area will be treated as an urban candidate.
  • Urban areas are those which have been defined as such through 2011 census or subsequent government notification. All other areas will be treated as rural.

Navodaya Class 6 Reservation of Seats:

  • At least 75% of the seats in a district are filled by selected candidates from rural areas and remaining seats are filled from urban areas of the district.
  • Reservation of seats in favour of children belonging to Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes is provided in proportion to their population in the district concerned, provided that in any district, such reservation shall be made at the national average (15% for Scheduled Castes and 7.5% for Scheduled Tribes). will not be less than) but subject to a maximum of 50% for both the categories (SC and ST) together.
  • These reservations are interchangeable and are over and above the candidates selected under Open Merit.
  • One third of the total seats are filled by girls.

How to apply for Navodaya Class 6 Admission: -

  • The process to apply for JNV Selection Test through online process has been simplified.
  • Detailed and thorough verification of the proof of residence, age, eligibility etc. of the successful candidates will be done through the prescribed procedure.
  • Eligible candidates along with their parents/guardians may approach the Common Service Centre along with the duly filled certificates from the Head Master of the school where the candidate is studying in Class V.
  • The format of the certificate can be downloaded from the website of the committee www.nvshq.org A sample of the format is attached.
  • In case of NIOS candidates, the candidate should have obtained 'B' certificate and should reside in the same district where he/she wants to take admission.
  • The application for JNV Selection Test 2021 is being processed through Common Service Centre of Ministry of IT, Govt. of India.
  • Common Service Centre has a wide range with 2.6 lakh centres across the country, covering virtually every village.
  • As per MoU with NVS, Common Service Centre will charge 35/- (Rupees thirty five only) per candidate towards service fee for uploading the application form.
